End of Year Exams in English, Math and French

Dear Parents of Grade 4 Students,

Over the next few weeks, the Grade 4 students will be writing their End of the Year Exams. These exams cover content from Grades 3 and 4. The dates that have been blocked off, and might change slightly, are May 7-17 for English, May 23 – May 31 for Math and the beginning of May for French. It is important that your child attends school in order to ensure that they do not miss a crucial part of the exam. Of course, illness does occur and in that case, please keep your child home and I will try to catch them up when they return.

During End of Year Exams, it is recommended that you send extra healthy snacks and a water bottle to school.  Also, please send 1 box of Kleenex to school because we have used all of our Kleenex.

For Math, students will have the option of using a calculator for certain parts of the exam so please send a calculator on or before April 26. At this time, students will be given the opportunity to use their calculator to perform various tasks and increase their comfort level. (Also, if your child does not have a ruler with centimeters on it, please send 1 to school).

Please do your best to keep up with your regular schedule at home and I will try to maintain a schedule, close to 'normal' at school. The continuity of the regular schedule will help to reduce any sort of anxiety. The exams will be presented in a positive way and keep in mind; this is not the end all or be all! It is one part of the grade 4 year.

If there are any questions or concerns, please email me at portforsl@ped.etsb.qc.ca.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.
